
Underclassmen ruled the day at the indoor state meet last season with sophomores taking the top two spots and a freshman placing third. With that in mind, we have a big batch of returners lined up in what should be one of the state's most competitive events: the 200 meters.
Girard College's Thelma Davies leads that charge. As a sophomore, she beat out fellow sophomore Kouri Peace of Pennridge in a race to the finish at states. Both are juniors now and both should be on the national radar, but battling in-state for the top spot, too. Davies ran 24.02 at indoor states last season to Peace's 24.08. Davies went on to win her second straight AA state title in the event (before also breaking the 100 meter state record at nationals), while Peace battled an injury for most of the outdoor season. If both are healthy, expect a battle once again.
