North Allegheny's Clara Savchik took second last season in a thrilling 3000 meters at indoor states. Germantown Academy's Abbe Goldstein out-dueled the NA junior to win her second race of a busy day. Savchik, who got that elusive state title when she won the outdoor 3200 meters in AAA, will go for her first indoor state crown this winter.
Savchik had a solid fall on the XC trails, capped off by a great race at state where she finished second. Her 9:39 from indoor nationals is the top returning time in the state and she'll be looking to better that this indoor season.
Four others who earned state medals last winter are also back. Cheltenham's MaryGrace Rittler took third at states last year in the event. Conestoga's Dominique Shultz was fourth, Coatesville's Brooke Hutton was fifth and Chambersburg's Abby Yourkavitch was sixth. Each of those girls are coming off strong XC seasons and will look to grab state medals this winter.
