Mackenzie Horn Jumps 13; Morris Clears PA#1 At VaultWorX


Mackenzie Horn of Manheim Township became the fifth girl in Pennsylvania state history to jump over 13 feet in the pole vault and Payton Morris of East Pennsboro cleared a PA#1 15-7 in an eventful meet at the VaultWorX Facility in Camp Hill.

Horn cleared 13 feet, 0 inches for a new personal best, PA#2, and US#5 to take the win in the girls' competition. Horn had been knocking on the doorstep of 13 feet all season. She jumped 12-7 at the first VaultWorX meet before also claiming wins at Franklin & Marshall and Penn State. Horn joins Abby Norwillo in an elite class of PA girls' vaulters to have jumped over 13 in the pole vault in state history.

Hempfield's Carena Nottoli jumped 12-2 to take second place. That's a season best and it moves her up to PA#3. Sophomore Sydney Horn of Manheim Township jumped 11-8 for third place. Mackenzie's younger sister moves up to PA#6 with that performance.

In the boys' competition, it was all Morris. The senior and UPenn recruit jumped his season best matching his all-conditions PR with a jump of 15-7. That moves Morris into the PA#1 slot ahead of Schuylkill Valley's Joe Jardine, who cleared 15-6 last weekend.
