It was a Pennsylvania-Maryland showdown at West Chester Henderson for the John Hay PA Distance Festival.
Six boys in total cracked the 1:54 barrier in a very fast race that produced a very exciting finish. Aariq Nixon of Milford Mill (MD) dropped a huge PR to kick to the win in 1:51.56. Bishop Shanahan's Jonah Hoey took second in 1:52.59, over a second better than his open 800 PR and a new PA#3.
Eldon Phillips of Northwood (MD) was third in 1:52.77, while Pennridge's Matt Eissler was fourth, also dropping a nice open PR of 1:52.96, for a new PA#4. Hoey and Eissler are the top non-senior boys in the 800 in Pennsylvania. Keep an eye out for that matchup as we move into next year.
