Team Breakdown: PIAA District 6 Girls

D6-AA Girls - Team Breakdown

After falling to Central Cambria for the LHAC title last fall, Forest Hills reversed its fortune and captured the District 6 Class AA win, and more importantly, the lone state qualifying spot, by just five points (41-46).

Fast forward to this year, and it looks like it will be another Forest Hills-Central Cambria showdown for the D6-AA title and a trip to Hershey. Forest Hills, which went on to take 14th at states, brings back four girls from last year's varsity team, while the Red Devils from Central Cambria return five of its '17 top seven.

Leading the way for Forest Hills this season will be the defending district champ, Emily Montag. Also back is Lacey Greathouse, who placed fourth at districts a year ago. For Central Cambria, Kacy McKeel (third at districts last year) and the rising sophomore duo of Anna Dill and Ella Vrabel will pace the team.

The key to the district title this season is depth. Which of these teams can replenish its varsity squad to make up for the graduated seniors? Who will step up? This won't be a showdown to miss.

Somerset Area, led by 2017 D6-AA runner-up Rosie Chan, and Bellefonte Area, with six of seven varsity girls back, will look also be looking to contend with the two favorites this fall.
