Team Breakdown: PIAA District 3 Boys

D3-A Boys - Team Breakdown

After capturing the District 3 Class A title last fall, Kutztown Area will look for a return trip to Hershey this season. Three varsity boys return from last year's team, led up front by Mitchell Brett, who really emerged as a strong runner as only a frosh last season. Now a sophomore, he'll look to lead the way again.

Kutztown also returns Michael Hill and Derek Hanna, but will need to add some depth if it wants a return trip to the state meet, with just one state qualifying spot up for grabs at districts.

York Catholic, second at districts last fall, will look to seize the opportunity. With a strong top runner in Christian Gervasi and solid returners in Ryan Corbitt and Joseph Rizzuto. Look for the York Catholic boys to compete for that top spot after justing missing out last year.

The team with the best returning depth may be Fairfield Area. Fourth at districts last year, Fairfield brings back its full varsity team from last year. Led by John Whitcomb, who was second individually, this is a team worth keeping an eye on this fall. Delone Catholic was third at districts last year, just 5 points off York Catholic. Delone brings back a strong top two with Gabe Hall and Adler Brininger, and will look to add some depth to compete for the district title this season.

Making the move from 2A to 1A this season is Trinity. After placing 25th in 2A at districts last year, Trinity should compete with the top teams this fall in 1A. All seven varsity runners are back with a solid top runner in Will Bucher. Don't sleep on these 1A newcomers this season.
