Abington Heights will be without its undisputed team leader from last season, but the Comets will still be the team to beat in District 2 Class AA. Katie Dammer, who ran away with the D2-AAA individual title, has graduated and is off to Georgetown this year, but AH returns four varsity runners from last year.
Abby Marion, fourth at districts last year, is back, along with Hannah Hughes and Sarah Bath. The Comets look to be in good position to compete for another D2-AAA title.
The team with the best shot of dethroning AH may be Delaware Valley, which returns its full varsity squad from last season. Laina Bogusta is the expected No. 1 runner this fall for DV. If the rest of the team can lower the 1-5 gap, DV could challenge for the title.
Pittston Area, led by Nicole Zambetti, and Williamsport Area, led by Lydia Smith will also look for some breakthrough performances to get in contention for the D2-AAA crown this fall.
