Taryn Parks knows her way around Van Cortlandt Park.
For the third straight year, the Greencastle-Antrim junior booked her spot in San Diego, earning a top ten finish at Foot Locker Northeast. In two weeks, she'll line up at Foot Locker Nationals. She is a perfect three-for-three in qualifying for the prestigious national meet.
Parks ran a time of 18:11 to finish seventh -- one of two Pennsylvania girls to qualify through.
Parks went out on the conservative side, using her experience knowing the race tends to go out pretty fast. She was in about tenth at the bridge crossing a little past the mile mark. From there, she picked her way through the field and came home in seventh, matching her placing from two years ago.
Parks will hit the west coast on December 8, looking to improve upon her 36th place finish from last season. Her experience at Balboa Park will certainly help. She talked with us after the race. Check out her post race interview above.
