Savannah Shaw Will Race At IAAF World XC Championships

North Carolina State freshman and former Upper Saint Clair standout Savannah Shaw will take on some of the world's best later this month in Denmark.

Shaw was selected to Team USATF in the Junior Women's race at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships, set for March 30 in Aarhus, Denmark.

She earned the spot on the team after placing fifth at the USATF Cross Country Championships in Tallahassee, Florida back on February 2. Shaw ran 21:28 on the 6K course at Apalachee Regional Park. She will join five others on Team USATF that will take on the world's best U20 runners overseas. Team USATF took 11th place at the last IAAF XC Championships in 2017.

As a high schooler at USC, Shaw had a big senior season in XC, which included a third place finish in Class AAA at the PIAA State Championships. She followed that up by qualifying for Foot Locker Nationals, where she placed 16th overall. On the track, Shaw ran 4:49.51 for 1,600 meters to take fourth at the PIAA State Championships outdoors.

During her freshman year so far at NC State, Shaw was 25th in the ACC and 32nd at the NCAA DI Southeast Regional Championship, where she and her Wolfpack teammates qualified for the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
