CD East Takes Down All-Time PA 4x100 Record

With the way the season was going, you had to figure it was going to come eventually. Well, it all went down on Saturday.

Central Dauphin East took down a nearly 21-year-old all-time state record in the 4x100 meter relay, running 41.10 to take the Class AAA win at the District 3 Championships. That tops the previous record of 41.14, set in 1998 at the PIAA State Championships by Harrisburg.

The quartet of Bryce Baker, David Niang, Stephon Brown, and Shawn Brown executed a picture-perfect race to runaway with the district title and the record.

The relay came close to the record a few occasions, but it all came together on Saturday at Shippensburg. The squad wanted to get the record at districts, so when they return to Ship in a week, the sole focus can be getting the AAA state title, something that is no given in a deep year in the event.

The Central Dauphin East boys, thanks in large part to their deep sprint squad, also earned the AAA team title with 56 points.
