AAA Girls' Discus Preview
Like the shot put, the girls discus throw expects to be a very close competition between a number of talented throwers, many of whom the same we'll see battling it out on Friday morning.
The top seed, like the shot, is Siniru Iheoma of Council Rock South, who launched a career-best throw of 152-07 to win the District 1 title. But like the shot, Mackenna Orie of Hempfield Area sits as the AAA No. 1 this season with her best of 153-11. Iheoma and Orie are the only two in the field with season bests over 150 feet and it will be a good competition between those two with everything on the line.
Quakertown's Adria Retter has had a great season in the disc that just keeps getting better. She threw a PR of 142-0 to place second to Iheoma at District 1. Look for Retter to be up high on the podium by the day's end.
5 others come in with season best throws over 130 feet. Keeley Suzenski of Berks Catholic tossed a big PR of 138-3 to win the District 3 title. That should give her good momentum heading into states. District 11 champion Isabelle Meckes of Lehighton has a season best of 135-2. Cedar Crest's Hannah Woelfling and Wilson's Olivia Moyer have also thrown past 130 feet this season. All those girls will be major medal contenders in this strong competition.
