Individuals Preview

A number of boys will be in contention for the D11-A individual crown this season. Two-time district champ Wayne Reilly has graduated, so we'll get a new winner this fall. Mahanoy Area's Cole Streisel was second to Reilly at the district meet last year. The senior will be aiming to close out his career with a district crown, but there are no shortage of challengers.

Weatherly Area's Frankie Willis emerged last season as a strong runner during his freshman year. The rising sophomore was seventh at districts and was fourth in the Schuylkill League. His Weatherly teammate Scott Zoscin, a rising senior (fourth at districts), is also a contender. Zoscin was 95th at states, the best of all D11-A returners.

Shenandoah Valley's Luis Velazquez was fifth at the district meet and will be one to watch going into his senior year. Moravian Academy's Mason Tran and Shenandoah Valley's Educ Zamudio placed inside the top 10 at districts last season. Both should also be in the mix for top 5 finishes this fall.

This should be a close battle with a few boys having a good shot at the D11-A title.

Team Preview

Shenandoah Valley comes in as the defending district champions, earning D11-A's lone state qualifying spot in 2018. SV loses its top runner in Brandon Stasulli, but returns the rest of its district championship squad from last season. Velazquez emerged in a big way late last season, and will likely be the team's No. 1 in 2019. Depth is SV's strength and makes them the favorites this fall.

Moravian Academy was just two points off SV last season. Four varsity boys, led by Tran, return for Moravian Academy this fall, and they will look to contend for a spot in Hershey. Weatherly Area was fourth in the district last season. It returns a strong top two with Zoscin and Willis, but will need to add depth to contend with the favorites this season.

Nativity BVM and Notre Dame E S are among the other teams looking to contend in the district this season.
