Individuals Preview

Emily Coddington of North Star will look to retain her title in District 5 Class A this season. Last year, she ran away with the D5-A win by over a minute and a half, clocking a 21:18. She went on to place 53rd at states for a very strong showing. Coddington also made the state final in the 1600 meters this past spring, where she took tenth in Class AA.

It should be another big fall for Coddington, who will look to move up to medal territory in Class A at states.

The next best returner from D5 is Mary Hostetter of Johnstown Christian School. She was fifth in 2018 in the district as a freshman. Now a sophomore, she'll look for another strong showing.

The Meyersdale Area trio of Madison Faner, Carissa Miller, and Elizabeth Sayler, along with Southern Fulton's Elizabeth Flaherty are the returners from the top ten in the district from last season.

Team Preview

Meyersdale Area ended Southern Fulton's two-year reign atop District 5 last season. Meyersdale easily had the best depth in the district, putting four girls in the top ten at the district meet before placing 18th at the state meet.

Meyersdale loses one girl from its varsity squad in 2018 in Elise Hutzell, but returns the rest of the varsity six, including a solid core in Faner, Miller and Sayler.

Southern Fulton, which was second last season, will look to challenge Meyersdale and get back to Hershey. Flaherty, who was eighth in 2018 and fifth in 2017 in the district is back to lead the way for SF. Windber Area and Johnstown Christian will be looking to add some depth to contend for the lone states spot as well.
