Price-Whitehead Leaps PA No. 2 All-Time 25 Feet

Jaden Price-Whitehead wasted no time making history at the TFCAofGP Meet of Champions. The Upper Dublin junior put down the second best long jump performance in state history on his first attempt in the event on Saturday morning at Lehigh.

Price-Whitehead leapt 25 feet even to take the win, break the meet record, and move up the all-time state rankings. He now sits at No. 2 in state history, trailing only Dion Bentley (Penn Hills), who has held the national high school record at 26-6.5 since 1989.

That jump improved Price-Whitehead's own US No. 1 for the season. Saturday's leap is over a seven inch improvement of his previous national leader, which was 24-2.75. The next closest is the national rankings is Johnny Brackins of Missouri at 24-1.25.

With that leap, Price-Whitehead passed State College's Ron Dickerson (24-4.5 in 1989), Methacton's Carlton Lavong (24-11 in 2010), and Lampeter-Strasburg's Ezra Mellinger (24-11.5 in 2019) on the all-time Pennsylvania list. Outdoors, Bentley holds the state record with a 26-9, while Cheltenham's Saahir Bethea is the only other boys to have jumped over 25 feet (25-5.75 in 2015).
