What Might Have Been At States: Boys Sprints & Hurdles

What Would Have Been: Boys 300m Hurdles

AA

After a second place finish last year, Hill-Freedman's RaAr Corinaldi would be looking to claim his first state title in the intermediate hurdles. As a junior last year, Corinaldi saw some big time drops en route to a big performance and 38.74 in the state final to grab his state silver. He would be the big favorite with a PR about .80 seconds better than No. 2 on the returners list.

Riverside's Brett Hart and Lewisburg Area's Zach Bedell are the two other finalists back from last year. Hart was fifth, while Bedell took sixth. Hart watched his teammate Calvin Wetzel win the AA state title in the 300s last year, so he'd be looking to keep the crown in Riverside.

Grove City Area's Connor McEwen missed the final by .03 last year and surely would have been a major factor this season as a senior. Moniteau's Ethan McDeavitt would have also been a factor with a season best of 40.49 last spring.

AAA

There were a wealth of strong returners int he 300 meter hurdles this spring in AAA. At the top of the list was Penn Wood's Timmy Odunjo, who placed second to the now-graduated Godwin Kabanda in the state final last season. Odunjo went 37.80 at DELCOs last season and was looking to win his first state title.

The senior would have been challenged, though, in what was a loaded field of talented upperclassmen. J.P. McCaskey's Dejon Manning has been getting better and better during his career. He went 38.03 to place third at the state meet last season.

Liberty's Christian Tackett (fifth), Downingtown West's Ethan Robinson (sixth), Williamsport's Allen Taylor (seventh), and State College's Zachary DeCarmine (eighth) are all back from last year's final. Frankly, any of those boys could have made it an exciting final to watch for at Shippensburg. Kabanda dropped a big PR to win the state title last year and the same thing could have happened this time around.
