The Nike Team Nationals will be held on Dec. 4 in the Portland, Oregon area, where definitive national team champions will be crowned for the first time, for both boys and girls. A total of 20 boys teams and 20 girls teams will compete for national honors. To improve a team's ranking, squads should plan to compete at inter-state meets that usually attract talented teams from a region. In Pennsylvania, the Briarwood Scholastic Invitational at Belmont Plateau in Philly is one such meet, usually hosting teams from Virginia, Delaware, New Jersey and New York, as well as Pennsylvania. And of course, the Great American XC Festival is the biggest meet of the season, held in Cary, North Carolina.
