On a windy day at Northmoreland Park in Apollo there was some good Wednesday afternoon action for the WPIAL Section IV Championships.
In the girls race, Kiski Area freshman Eliza Miller posted another win, going 19:22 -- a season best -- running away from the field for the win. Ninth graders took four of the top five spots, but it was Oakland Catholic senior Tesslyn Helms that placed second in 19:59. Her Oakland Catholic team scored 34 points for the team title, and Fox Chapel Area was second with 57 points.
Indiana Area's Joel Beckwith won the boys race, going 16:57 for the win. Kiski's Jake Folaron was second in 17:22 and Fox Chapel's Jack Lorence was third in 17:26. Fox Chapel Area earned the team title 38 points, and Indiana was second with 51 points.
