GIRLS TEAM PREVIEW
Will Notre Dame Academy win their 1st ever DELCO XC Championship??  It certainly looks like it!!!!  Even though Strath Haven has won the past 2 years and Cardinal O’hara seems to always be up there, 2009 will have plenty of Notre Dame green uniforms in the front of the pack.  Notre Dame won the Abington Invitational and defeated 2-time PIAA State Champ Emmaus at Carlisle.  Two teams in recent past Delco history have dominated this meet.  In 2002 O’Hara’s girls finished 1,2,3,11, and 17(34 total points).  In 2006 PIAA State Champ Radnor placed 2,3,6,12, and 13(36).  Notre Dame has a legitimate shot at having 5 girls in the top 14(they could score as low as 32 points-an all-time DELCO record).  O”Hara and Strath Haven will likely battle for the runner-up trophy.  O’Hara has beaten Strath Haven at Abington Inv. and Paul Short Inv., but a smaller field may benefit Strath Haven. Radnor and Haverford could surprise??

INDIVIDUAL PREVIEW
5 of the TOP 6 of 2008 return as well as the 2007 Champ who was injured in 2008.  As coaches we all love to see Seniors run their best, and the 4th time may be the charm for Radnor0s Kelyn Freedman.  She was 3rd in 2006 and 2007 and 5th in 2008.  More importantly she has beaten 3 of the girls this year who were ahead of her in 2008, and recently won the Bulldog Inv.  Junior Sarah Rutkowski(SH) is the defending Champ and is especially good on hilly courses.  Sophomore Sophia Meehan(HAV) was 2nd last year and Jr, Katie Rodden(4th 2008) have as good a chance as anyone to wear the crown. Notre Dame has not one, not two, but 3 girls who will be challenging for the Individual title as well as leading their team to  potential victory!  Sophomores Maria Seykora(6th 08) and Caroline Powers(19th 08) and Junior Julianne Garvey(1st 07) have run against tough competition and all are well-coached and will be ready to grab Delaware County bragging rights!!!
13 more girls will get DELCO plaques---It will be a BATTLE!!!---Favorites to crack the Top 20 are  Meehan(HAV) Chang(PC)  Delgrosso(OH) Bellia(ACAR)  Whitelaw(SH) Seglem(SH) S.Powers(ND) Dougherty(ND) Rutter(RID) McNally(SF)  Gsell(RAD)  Egan(OH)  Boyer(OH) Grossman(SH) Fortunato(AI) McDermott(OH) Radowsky(GARV)  Steely(RAD)
