Conteh, Hebron Shine At The Carnival

It was a big day for a pair of Pennsylvania sprinters on Saturday at the PTFCA Indoor Track Carnival at Glen Mills.

Girard College's Margaret Conteh was impressive in the 400 meters. On the less-than-ideal track at Glen Mills, Conteh still threw down a strong time of 56.50 for the win. That is just off her season best in the 400 of 56.24 from the 757 Showdown, but that came on a banked track in Virginia Beach. This one came on the flat track without spikes on an surface that is not exactly favorable to running fast.

Conteh accelerated on the backstretch on the opening lap and came through in the first 200 in 26.3 before closing in a solid 30.18 to pick up the victory. Watch Conteh's win in the 400 below.

Neshaminy's Sanaa Hebron also had a terrific day at Glen Mills during a busy afternoon for the junior. In about a 45 minute span, Hebron competed in three events, winning two and taking second in another.

Hebron started her day by winning the 55 meters in 7.55. She came back to take second to Conteh in the 400 in a time of 58.73. Then she finished off her meet with her second victory of the day, this one coming in the 200 meters with a time of 26.85.

With a smaller-than-usual number of overall meet entries and the fact that the meet was run with only girls in the afternoon session, there was little time to recover in between races. But Hebron made it work for a solid day's work. Watch her 55 and 200 wins below.
