Mulhern Takes 2nd In FSU Invite Open Race

Jenna Mulhern turned in a second big effort in as many weeks, this time in her 6K debut against some college competition.

At the Florida State Invitational/NCAA Pre-Nationals in Tallahassee on Friday morning, Mulhern went 20:49 for 6,000 meters to take second in the Women's Open Race. It was the first career 6K for Mulhern, a high school senior who is competing unattached this season.

She braved the Florida heat to come away with another strong race on the heels of a track 5K PR last week. The field on Friday was mostly college competition. She put herself right in the lead pack, and led the race through 5K, where she split a 17:26. University of Tennessee sophomore Sydney Seymour captured the win in 20:41.
