It was a Greencastle-Antrim sweep at Saturday's Mid-Penn Conference Championships held at Big Spring. Claire Paci of Greencastle-Antrim won the girls' race in 18:35, and G-A's Weber Long took the boys' victory in in 15:47.
Paci outlasted Carlisle's Vanessa Alder for the win. Alder closed well to take second in 18:37. Chambersburg's Camryn Kiser was third in 18:50 and Mechanicsburg's Olivia Walter was fourth in 18:56. The State College Area girls claimed their seventh straight Mid-Penn title, paced by a fifth place finish by Marlee Kwasnica. SC scored 64 points to beat out Mechanicsburg, which scored 78 points for second.
In the boys' race, Long turned it into a runaway, winning by 20 seconds. Carlisle took the next two spots with Ray Bondy (16:08) and Kevin Shank (16:09) coming across second and third. State College's Trent Dinant was fourth in 16:25, closely followed by Central Dauphin's Timothy Roden, who also ran 16:25 for fifth. State College Area captured the team title with 73 points. Carlisle was second with 115.
