Edinboro Bubble Partially Collapses, TSTCA Canceled Again

The Tri-State Track Coaches Association (TSTCA) indoor season got off to a solid albeit delayed start last Friday at Edinboro University, with a number of state top 10 marks and double winners standing out at the end of a chilly evening in the Zafirovski Dome.

Unfortunately, the third scheduled meet of the 2022 season on Saturday (Jan. 22) has met the same fate as the planned opener, with Edinboro officials on Thursday canceling the meet because of a partial collapse of the inflatable structure. TSTCA's Ed Helbig said Edinboro officials noted the structure could be re-inflated in time for the scheduled meet, but that temperatures inside the bubble would not be conducive for a meet as outside temps are forecast to plummet this weekend.

The scheduled opener on Jan. 8 was canceled by university officials due to a COVID outbreak amongst Edinboro athletic teams that were on campus at the time as classes had not yet started. Helbig said the next TSTCA meet is set for Jan. 29.
