RANKINGS: Final XC Boys Teams and Way too Early Rankings

Our Way too Early 2023 Rankings are largely a question of what teams are losing who, and their historic ability to replenish talent. That being said, these student-athletes have a year to improve and we expect to see some changes within the first few weeks of the season in 2023.

Boys Top 10 Teams - Way too Early 2023 Rankings

RANK(PREV)TEAMBRIEF RATIONALE
1

North Allegheny will graduate four of the Top-7, but if there is one thing they've proven over the last three years, it is their ability to reload and develop talent. For example, Connor Williams is the squad's 8-man but he is ready to take the jump to Varsity.

2

North Penn will return five of their Top-6 from 2022. Two of which, are currently freshmen. This squad will be in the mix in 2023. Current freshman - Justin Landis, will lead this squad in 2023.

3

The Northeast Team Region Runner-Ups will graduate key characters; Aidan McHugh, Dakin Ebmeyer and Connor Hanrahan. But with progression being a crucial part of their success in 2022, we wouldn't be surprised to see a similar development in 2023.

4

Grove City will graduate Josh Jones and Justy Brown, but this is a deep squad with three sophomores in the Top-7. Their progression is vital to this squads success in 2023. MJ Pottinger and Quinn McKnight will lead this squad in 2023.

5

Manheim Township didn't have the end of season they were hoping for, but luckily they return all of their starting seven. The future is bright for MT.

6

Parkland will return four of their Top-5. The District 11 Champ, Paul Abeln will continue to lead this squad along with three of his '24 classmates.

Cole Casadei will lead this squad in 2023. After graduating Drew Brill and Ryan McGinley, the squad will look for underclassmen to step up in 2023.

State College

State College will graduate two, including their No. 1 Nick Sloff. But with their depth at hand, we wouldn't be surprised to see them carry their momentum into the new year.

9

Penncrest will lose several important seniors to graduation. But we counted them out this year and look where that took them. They finished third in the state, and we'd be wise to keep them on our radar.

10

Exeter missed the PIAA Championship this year, but finished 18th at the Team Northeast Region Championship. Exeter will graduate senior Nathan Wentling, but could be in a great position to grow in 2023.
