Week Review - Stellar Performances across the Board

It was another action-packed weekend of competition with many stellar performances. Let's look at the top performances from the past few days.

Boys

Sprints

Colin Kravitz (North Pocono) took care of business at the CSU Run at the Rec #1, winning the 55m in 6.69. This was a PA Top-25 performance for the event.

In the 60m, Nico Wright-Phillips (West York Area) won the Franklin and Marshall High School Invite #2, matching his PB of 7.01. Austyn Winklblech (Canon-McMillian) finished 7th in a competitive field at the SPIRE Ohio Preview Meet. Winklbech ran a personal best time of 7.03. Connor Rychcik (Mount Lebanon) won the TSTCA Meet #3, running a PA No.12 time of 7.06.

Demario Crawford (Cathedral Prep) had an impressive 3rd place finish in the 200m at the SPIRE Ohio Preview Meet after running 22.42. At the TSTCA Meet #3, Jacob Thompson took the win running 22.88.

Timothy Roden (Central Dauphin) was victorious in the 400m at the Franklin And Marshall High School Invite after running 50.70.

Hurdles

Isaiah Brightman (Coatesville) won the Franklin and Marshall High School 60mH in 8.43. This was a new PA No.7. Just behind him for a new PA No.8 was Perry Addey (West York Area).

Distance

The SPIRE Ohio Preview Meet had a thrilling 800m race. Maxwell Hamilton (Our Lady Sacred Heart) finished in 2nd running a solid 1:57.30. Just behind him, running 1:57.61, was Jp Byrnes (Pittsburgh Central Catholic). Luke Brown (Cathedral Prep) was 6th, running 1:58.40, Ethan Papa (Blackhawk) was 7th, running 1:59.15, and Aidan Herman (Deer Lakes) was 8th running 1:59.59. All of these times were PA Top-25 efforts.

The 1600m was another exciting event at the SPIRE Ohio Preview Meet, with Joshua Jones (Grove City Area) winning in 4:19.71. Finishing behind him was Luke Brown in 4:20.70, Christian Mattern (McDowell) in 4:27.02, and Manny Diaz (Bradford Area) in 4:27.71.

Meanwhile, at the Franklin and Marshall High School Invite #2, Timothy Roden won the 1600m in 4:24.16. Finishing behind him was Colin Whitaker (Lampeter Strasburg) in 4:24.60, Joseph Fahrney (Hempfield (3)) in 4:26.97, and Zack Zerbe (Governor Mifflin) in 4:29.17.

Aidan Hodge (Hempfield (3)) ran a blistering 8:41.81 to win the 3000m at the Franklin and Marshall High School Invite #2. In comparison, Michael Braun (Freeport Area) took the crown at the TSTCA Meet #3 in 8:48.24.

Going back west to the SPIRE Ohio Preview Meet, Ryan Pajak (Ringold) came out on top with a blazing PA No.1 time of 9:02.86 in the 3200m. That time stands as a current US No. 2. Behind him was Manny Diaz, who ran 9:38.90, and Owen Dressler (Butler), who ran 9:46.87.

Throws

It was a big weekend for the shot put as seven individuals threw over 50 feet. In typical fashion, the Berks Catholic dynamic duo got things done at the GA Shot Put Invite. Brady Mider won, throwing 54'-11.75", with teammate Alex Witmer coming in second, throwing 51'-01.00".

Kyree Butler (Upper Dublin) claimed the win at the TFCAofGP Meet #8, throwing 52'-08.25". At the Franklin and Marshall High School Invite, Colin Mehlorn (Selinsgrove) won by throwing 51'-10.75", beating Mathew Remash (J.P. McCaskey), who threw 50'-05.00".

Meanwhile, at the TSTCA Meet #3, the Hemfield Area (7) duo finished with a 1-2 punch. Peyton Murray threw 51'-09.00" and teammate John Paul Gera threw 50'-03.25".

Jumps

The Franklin and Marshall High School Invite #2 had a solid high jump competition, with Drew Domurat (Coatesville) finishing 2nd after clearing 6'-02.00". Clearing the same height and coming in 3rd was Ty'Shawn Ewings (Harrisburg High School). Colin Grahm (Upper Moreland) won the TFCAofGP Meet #8 after clearing 6'-02.00".

As for the long jump, Kyler Moore (Emmaus) took 2nd place at the Franklin and Marshall High School Invite #2 after covering 23'-01.00".

Moore also finished 2nd in the triple jump covering 41'-05.50". Jeremiah Hamilton (Bethel Park) finished 6th at the SPIRE Ohio Preview Meet, covering 40'-04.75".

Vault

The SPIRE Ohio Preview Meet, pole vault competition, certainly didn't disappoint. Andrew Layton took the win and vaulted a new PA No.1 mark of 15'-06.00". Finishing in 3rd was Logan Gossard (Richland), who cleared 15'-00.00". This mark moves Gossard into the PA No.2 position. In contrast, Brandon Schnieder (Erie High School) cleared 14'-06.00" at the TSTCA Meet #3.

Girls

Sprints

Tatum Norris (Susquehanna Community) won the 55m in an easy 7.52 at the CSU Run at the Rec #1.

In the 60m, Abbie Huey (Indiana Area) ran 7.79 to tie the PA No.5 time. Meanwhile, Faith Fuqua (Downingtown East) improved her season best by running 7.89 at the DVGTCA Meet #7.

Hurdles

There were a lot of fast times in the 60mH this weekend. At the SPIRE Ohio Preview Meet, Rose Kuchera (Canon-McMillan) ran a PA No.3 time of 9.13. Finishing behind her was Ny'Asia Benton (Obama Academy), who ran 9.40, and Grace Ferency (Bethel Park), who ran 9.55).

Megan Cain (Mount Lebanon) also ran 9.55 this weekend, taking first at the TSTCA Meet #3. While Olivia Smiarowska (Archbishop Ryan) won the DVGTCA Meet #7 in 9.30, beating Michele Korsah (Cheltenham), who ran 9.33, and Mackenzie Owens (Perkiomen Valley), who ran 9.56.

These were all PA Top-25 performances. 

Distance

The SPIRE Ohio Meet Preview didn't disappoint on the girl's side of the 800 either. Harley Kletz (Montour) ran a new PA No.5 time of 2:16.31, finishing 4th, and Jenna Long (Bethel Park) ran a PA No.7 time of 2:16.50, finishing 5th. Gwen Hamilton (Archbishop Wood) won the DVGTCA Meet #7, running 2:17.77. Meanwhile, at the Franklin and Marshall High School Invite #2, Isabelle Walsh (Middletown High School) won in 2:19.48.

Wren Kucler (North Allegheny) won the mile at the TSTCA Meet #3 in 5:09.46 for a new PA No. 9 effort. Behind Kucler was teammate Eva Kynaston who ran 5:14.11, and Kaylee Foringer (Trinity (7)), who ran 5:16.62.

The 1600m was action-packed this weekend, with Jolena Quarzo (Brownsville Area) running 4:51.31 for 2nd place at the SPIRE Ohio Preview Meet. That time is a current US No. 6. Finishing behind Quarzo was Natalie McLean (Pine-Richland), who ran 4:59.05, Marlee Kwasnica (State College Area High School) who ran 5:01.22, and Jenna Lang (Bethel) who ran 5:01.88. All four rank inside the current PA Top 5 - and inside the PA Top 7 when you include the Mile to 1600m conversions.

 Willow Myers (Mercer Area) and Anne-Catherine Brown (Cathedral Prep) also competed in the field, running 5:12.91 and 5:18.70, respectively.

In the 1600m at the Franklin and Marshall High School Invite, Hailey Reinhard (Emmaus) won in 5:10.13.

In the 3000m at the TSTCA Meet #3, Robin Kucler (North Allegheny) won in a speedy 10:26.29 for a new PA No. 8 performance. Behind her was Grace Senneway (Peters Township), who ran 10:38.10, and Erin McGoey (North Allegheny), who ran 10:48.23. At the Franklin and Marshall High School Invite, Victoria Rodriguez (Dallastown) won in 10:38.60.

Willow Myers got things done in the 3200m at the SPIRE Ohio Preview Meet after winning in 11:03.61. This effort moves her to the PA No.4 rank. Ava Brewster (Butler) finished in 4th, running 11:42.45.

Throws

Six different girls threw over 35 feet this past weekend. Elizabeth Tapper (Hempfield Area (7)) threw 47'-10.00", winning the TSTCA Meet #3. Finishing in 2nd was Rebekah Miller (Punxsutawney Area), who threw 35'-00.00". At the DVGTCA Meet #7, Alexa Brown (Strath Haven) won, throwing 39'-09.00".

At the Franklin and Marshall High School Invite, Ericka Jackson (Harrisburg Area) won with a 37'-04.75" throw. Finishing behind Jackson was Ella Lucas (Warwick), who threw 36'-08.75", and Simone Cooper (Middletown High School), who threw 36'-00.25".

Jumps

Katie Becker (Warwick) tied her own PA No.1 mark of 5'-04.00" in the high jump. This won her the Franklin and Marshall High School Invite #2. At the DVGTCA Meet #7, Avery Elliott (Episcopal Academy) won by clearing 5'-01.00".

Ashley Laukus (Norwin) won the high jump at the TSTCA Meet #3, clearing the current PA No. 2 mark of 5'-03.00". Behind her was Ally Braunsdorf (Mount Lebanon) in 2nd and Giani Torri (Hempfield (7)) in 3rd place, both clearing 5'-01.00". At the SPIRE Ohio Preview Meet, Grace Howard (South Fayette High School) took 2nd after clearing 5'-02.00".

The long jump had a lot of impressive marks this weekend, with Zoe Charles (Council Rock South) leading the way after her 17'-08.75" jump to win the DVGTCA Meet #7. Finishing in 2nd place was Madeline Lewis (North Penn), who jumped 17'-05.25", and finishing 3rd was Brooke Lobban (Upper Moreland) who jumped 16'-11.25".

At the Franklin and Marshall Invite #2, Bridget Keegan (Avon Grove) won, covering 16'-09.00". Rose Kuchera (Canon-McMillan) took 3rd place, also covering 16'-09.00 at the SPIRE Ohio Preview Meet.

Lauren Howard (Hempfield (7)) set a new PA No.8 mark of 36'-00.50" in the triple jump after winning the TSTCA Meet #3.

Vault

Things got crazy with the pole vault once again, as four girls cleared 12 feet. At the Franklin and Marshall High School Invite #2, Katie Urbine (Solanco) won vaulting 12'-09.00". Kristen Hoffman (Kennett) was 2nd, also clearing 12'-09.00".

At the DVGTCA Meet #7, Veronica Vacca (Mount Saint Joseph Academy) won, clearing 12-06.00. Mary Cate Doughty (Villa Maria Academy) was second after clearing 12'-00.00".
