Watch the 200m Championship at adidas Track Nation

Sahfi Reed (Martin Luther King HS) put on a show at Adidas Track Nationals. He left Virginia Beach with two All-American recognitions after finishing second in the 200m dash and third in the 400m dash.

Reed got things started in the timed 400m dash finals on Saturday. He ran in heat six of six, placing 3rd overall. The race came down to the wire with Reed running a blistering new PR' and PA No. 1 effort of 47.81 seconds, finishing just behind Alexander Sadikov (Ocean Township HS, New Jersey), who ran 47.55 seconds, and Natanael Vigo Catala (Haverhill High School, Massachusetts), who ran 47.67 seconds.

The 200m dash prelims followed on Sunday morning. Reed won his heat in 21.77 seconds. This effort was the fastest time run in the prelims advancing him to the finals as the No. 1 seed that afternoon.

In the finals, Reed powered his way to a 2nd place finish running a new PR' in 21.51 seconds. The race was another nail-biter, with Austen Diggs (La Grange, Texas) winning in 21.40 seconds and Jayden Mims (Imhotep Institute Charter HS) taking third in 21.72 seconds.

Reed's 200m time ranks him as the ninth fastest PA Boy of All-Time in the event.

It was an excellent national championship showing for the All-American Sahfi Reed. After two PRs and two podium finishes, Reed has the momentum an elite athlete needs to carry himself into a solid outdoor season.
