Before Going Pro: Josh Hoey won at the Penn Relays

Before he signed a professional deal with adidas, Josh Hoey was a high school superstar in Pennsylvania and a Penn Relays Champion in the Mile.

Hoey won the 2016 race with a 4:11.90. His Penn Relay's championship ultimately laid the foundation for the rest of his high school career.

In 2017 - he won his first indoor state championship and added an outdoor championship at the PIAA Championships. He capped his junior season with a 1:49.37 800m to finish third at the USATF Junior National Outdoor T&F Championships.

His senior year, he won a number of prolific races including the Millrose High School Mile, the USATF Junior Outdoor Championships 800m and the 2018 IAAFF World U20 800m Championship.

He concluded his high school career with 800m personal bests of 1:47.67 indoors and 1:48.07. He still holds both state records.
