PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Veronica Vacca of Mount Saint Joseph Academy launched her way to her second consecutive pole vault victory at the historic Penn Relays. Vacca, only a sophomore, cleared a season-best height of 12'-11" (3.94 meters), raising the bar as the new PA No.1 on the current state rankings.
Despite poor weather conditions, Vacca impressively cleared the first five heights of the competition on only one attempt each.
Vacca's focus and positive attitude allowed her to rise to the occasion in the poor-weather/high-pressure environment of Franklin Field.
"All in all, it was a great day; even though the weather wasn't perfect, it didn't really matter, I just had my head in the game, so I was prepared for anything," shared Vacca regarding her competitive perspective. "My dad always says it's about attitude; if you have a good attitude, and say the weather won't bother me, then it won't."
