Opportunities to preview Regional and National Championship courses will make it a big weekend for DI, DII, and DIII schools set to compete this weekend.
The Division III Ranks
Top teams will attend the Dickinson Long-Short Invite. At the same time, various other schools will attend the Lock Haven Invitational and other meets.
Dickinson Long-Short Invitational
Dickinson College is set to host this year's NCAA D3 Championship on the beloved Big Spring High School cross country course. The Long-Short Invitational is the first of three meets scheduled on the course this season and arguably the most unique. On Saturday, the meet will have two races, a 4k and an 8k. The team's top three runners in each race will be counted and combined to make a six-man score.
Carnegie Mellon, Mid-Atlantic Region No.1 (Ranking via USTFCCCA Coaches' Poll), is the top PA team competing. Colin McLaughlin will undoubtedly be pushing the pace up front in his second race of the season. McLaughlin led the Tartans to a second-place team finish at this year's Panthers Opener in 14:26.8 over 5k. We predict his teammates, Matthew Porter and Ryan Ponder, won't be far off.
Dickinson's Alexander Kane and DeSales' Shane Artis are two individuals to look out for. Both Runners are off to solid starts this season, and we anticipate this momentum to continue.
Lock Haven Invitational
Messiah is the top D3 PA team racing at the Lock Haven Invitational, taking full advantage of the opportunity to preview the Mid-Atlantic Region Championship course. Messiah's Louka Fetter will be the one to watch as the sophomore is on fire this season, already winning two invitationals, the Galen Piper Cross Country Challenge and Misericordia University Cougar Classic, respectively. Anticipate Fetter to mix things up with various talented D2 and D3 runners on Saturday.
