An Explosive Start to the Season for Brady Mider

Brady Mider's (Berks Catholic) season has gotten off to about as good of a start as one can hope for.

The University of Iowa commit and reigning PIAA 3A State Champion has thrown in five meets, going undefeated along that stretch. Perhaps more importantly, he has looked incredibly explosive early, throwing marks near his Indoor personal best of 61-4.

Early on, he could be one of the best High School Shot Putters in the country. He opened the season with a 60-0 throw at the GA Shot Put Invite #1 on December 13th.

For reference, he didn't throw over 60 feet until February 8th during the 2023 Indoor campaign. This season, Mider has already thrown over 60 feet twice. His most recent mark came at the Shot Put Night In the Valley Holiday Throw Down on December 19th where he launched one for 60-11, his season-best mark.

Mider currently ranks fourth Nationally and 14th All-Time in Pennsylvania's storied throwing history. To crack the top ten, he'll need to manage a throw of 62-3.

Jordan Geist (Knoch '17) still holds the Pennsylvania State Indoor record of 76-10.5.
