The DVGTCA Meet #7 is set for Friday, February 2nd. The event will be streamed on MileSplit, with archived footage being posted after the event HERE. The meet is currently scheduled to begin at 6:30 PM.
2 Events to Watch
1. The 60m Dash
This one should be fun. Avery Lewis (Friends' Central) is set to make her season debut in the 60m. Seeded at 7.20, Lewis could be making a run at her own state record.
She ran an unreal 7.22 at last year's PTFCA Indoor State Championship, so what does she have in the cards this time around? She opened her season with a 24.14 200m dash last week.
Also entered, Aniya Smith (Norristown), Mimi Duffy (Central Bucks West), Ciara Frederic (Plymouth Whitemarsh), Kai Oliver (Girls High), and Tamasen Allen Bey (Msgr Bonner & Abp Prendergast).
2. The 4x800m Relay
We could see a heater in the 4x800m, with five teams seeded within 26 seconds of one-another. These teams will be vying for a state qualification time and they'll need a 9:57.78 to hit the guideline. Up to 20 teams will be accepted to run at the state meet, and currently the 20th ranked team in the state is Altoona Area. They ran 10:15.25 two weeks ago.
That cut-off time will continue to get faster.
Tonight's match-up features North Penn, which is ranked 10th (with a 9:51.98). Central Bucks West, Shipley School, Lower Merion and Cheltenham are also seeded around that magic cut-off line.
Central Bucks West ran 10:20.11 a few weeks ago, while Cheltenham's top time is a 10:42.87. Lower Merion ran 10:47.8 at the Armory Officials Hall of Fame Invitational. This will be Shipley's first 4x800m attempt.
Also in that bunch is Souderton, entering with a 10:35.52 seed time.
