Events to Watch

1. The 60m Hurdles

Try not to blink while watching Tonovila Hicks (Springside Chestnut Hill Academy) in the 60m hurdles on Saturday.

Hicks, ranked 2nd in the state, is looking sharper and sharper as the season progresses. He ran a blazing PR of 8.08 three weeks ago at the Kristian Marche Memorial Invitational. 

Daniel Chukwu (Upper Darby) and Corey Demas (Archbishop Ryan) are also entered. Chuckwu (8.47) and Demas (8.62) should make for an exciting matchup, as the pair will both be looking to lock their spots in the state top 24, the cut-off for state qualifying. 

2. The Shotput 

Get ready for some big throws in the shotput. 

Jake Kelly (Archbishop Ryan) and Will Cipollone (Malvern Prep) could steal the thunder tomorrow. Kelly, ranked 4th in the state (55-1), and Cipollone, ranked 7th in the state (54-2.5), will make for an exhilarating regular-season showdown. 

Logan Wegman (Exeter Township) and Jason Noel (Engineering & Science) will also compete. Wegman and Noel are both ranked in the top 20. However, Noel still hasn't hit the state qualifying standard of 51-0. He is just two inches off at 50-10.
