A US No. 3?
Episcopal Academy jumped out to a fast start in their pursuit to win a second-straight PTFCA Indoor State Championship. In the very first event of the day, Episcopal stacked their relay by placing four sub-two-minute half-milers together.
On the legs of their ace Michael Woolery, EA was able to take the field by storm on the final circuit and win the 4x800m relay by tenths of a second. As a result, they started the day with 10 points on the board and a new US No. 3 at 7:48.50.

And as you'd expect, that was just the beginning of their day.

Sophomore Abaas Hunter had himself a career-best day. He ran indoor personal best marks in both the 200m and 400m. First up was the 400m, where Hunter podiumed from the second heat. He ran a 49.10 to score three individual points. He returned in the 200m and ran a lifetime best 21.71 for fifth. He totaled seven individual points.
Junior Joachim Johnson had a spectacular day in the field. Johnson finished second in both the High Jump and Triple Jump. He jumped 6-6 in the high jump, and in the triple, he managed to jump 47-11.5. That was an 11-inch personal best in the triple. He totaled 16 points for his team.
In the Shot Put circle, Alphonso Koukou excelled. His mark of 56-11.75 landed him in second place overall. Entering the finals, he was in fifth place. He then ripped off back-to-back 56-foot throws in his final two attempts to move up to second.
That brought the team's total to 41 points, enough to win the Championship. But then, Episcopal Academy added another seven points in the Distance Medley Relay and 4x400m relay.
Coatesville was arguably Episcopal's most significant threat to the crown. Early in the day, Donte London scored a fourth-place finish in the 60m dash with a personal best and school record of 6.85. He would return later in the 4x200m.
Then, Robert Turner landed on the podium with an eighth-place finish in the 200m.
In the field, Albert Morton was able to make up some ground, finishing fifth in the long jump and sixth in the high. He jumped marks of 22-02.25 and 6-04 respectively.
By the time the end-of-day relays came around, Coatesville was just too far behind Episcopal to make up the gap. But that didn't stop them from putting together superb efforts.
