"At States I didn't run my race. But here, today, I ran my race and I ran my race smart."

Redemption was the key word for Jayden Horton-Mims on Saturday and he made the most of his moment at Nike Indoor Nationals. Horton-Mims ran 46.85 to win his first national championship, and post the second fastest time in Pennsylvania History.
After a 47.65 preliminary round, Horton-Mims entered the finals as the top seed. He was joined by Ade Lloyd (Harriton)... the boy who beat him two weeks ago at the state final.
But, Horton-Mims was determined to run his own race and he split nearly even 200m laps. 23.29 and 23.56 circuits.
His time was just one-hundreth of a second off of William Reed's 1986 State Record. Nearly 40 years ago, Reed ran a 46.84 which has stood the tests of time. No one has been closer than Horton-Mims.
