Dale Hall Snags Pennsylvania 2,000m Steeplechase Record

PA MileSplit spoke with Dale Hall after he won the 800m 3A State Championship last week.

Dale Hall (Hampton) set a new Pennsylvania state record in the 2,000m steeplechase, running 6:06.48 at Night at the Island on Saturday night in Pittsburgh.

Hall's record-breaking performance was good enough for a new U.S. No.10 mark in the 2K Steeple, an event with limited opportunities for PA high schoolers to run.

His effort overtakes Sam Signor's (East Pennsboro '16) previous record of 6:06.89.

Signor posted his time at the Lock Haven High School Classic, one of the other meets inside the state that offers high schoolers the chance to compete in the unique event.

Hall held off Andrew Carlton (Morgantown, WV) and Camden Pierce (McDowell), who ran 6:12.43 and 6:15.42, respectively. Pierce's time is a PA No. 13 All-Time mark.

Could Hall Have A Future In The Steeple?

---

This record is the latest addition to Hall's expanding resume of accomplishments ranging from the 800m to the 5K.

The Liberty University signee is fresh off running a time of 1:51.29 to win a PIAA State title in the 800m.

In a post-race interview at the state championship, Hall expressed little interest in running the 800m next year at the college level.

Time will tell, but with Hall's high ceiling of potential and clocking a state record in his first-ever steeple race, he may have found his future event.
