PHILDAELPHIA, Pa. - With one last bow, Drew Griffith concluded his high school career as a New Balance Nationals Champion. He posted another sub-four minute mile, running 3:59.00 to take home the title.

He held off Zach Hillhouse, who also dipped below 4-minutes. He posted a 3:59.62.

Seven other boys ran faster than 4:05; Marcus Reilly, Ben Gabelman, Clay Shively, Ryan Pajak, William Steadman, Josiah Tostenson and Peyton Shute.

After running the second fastest 2-Mile HS History, Griffith returned to the east coast as the heavy favorite for Saturday night's mile Finale.

Poised to defend his home-state, Griffith jumped out to an early lead. He brought the field through 2:01.45 at 809m. His next two laps were 59.8 and 57.76. Hillhouse put pressure on him late by jumping to his outside shoulder, but Griffith had a hidden gear and pulled away down the homestretch.

Griffith split 3:43.48 through 1500m.
