The Cardinal O'Hara boys and girls swept the team and individual titles in the Southern Division Championships of the Philadelphia Catholic League at Belmont Plateau. Behind the fastest time of the day, a 16:12 from junior Greg Thomas, the Lions held off a much improved Carroll squad by four points, 36-40. Carroll tooks 2nd, 3rd and 4th, but O'Hara came back with four of the next eight to wrap it up. Katie and Beth Kelly went one-two as O'Hara put just 28 points on the board, 23 better than 2nd place Archbishop Prendergast. In the Northern Division, it was the LaSalle boys and St. Hubert's girls. Sean McGinley (16:26) and Tim Shea (16:55) were first and second, with three teammates in 4th, 5th and 6th for just 18 points. Saint Hubert tallied 23 behind the 2nd place 20:34 by Tracey Kelly. Ryan's Jeanine Walsh was the top finisher in 19:51. Combining the races, LaSalle comes out on tope, 49-52. That makes it way too close to call. Fortunately, we get to settle the issue 11/7 at the PCL Champs!
