Swenson girls returned closer to full strength and had a strong day all around. Shanae Bailey made her final high school outdoor season debut in style by winning the 100 meter hurdles in 14.80 and was part of the winning 4x100 (49.07) and 4x400 meter relay teams (3:58.82). Iyisha Weaver of Paul Robeson took over the state lead in the long jump with a strong mark of 18-08, and Spring Gamble of Girls High won the shot put with a mark of 39-07.50. For the boys, Brandon Thompson of Germantown High school ran 14.74 to win the 110 meter hurdles, while Northeast High School swept all of the sprint relays, running 43.14 to win the 4x100, 1:30.28 to win the 4x200, and 3:25.45 to win the 4x400. Daniel Harris of Germantown High School jumped 42-06 to win the triple jump.

Avon Grove won the 4x100 meter relay in 52.83 and Geena White of Avon Grove jumped 15-11.50 to win the long jump. For the boys, West Chester East won both the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relays, and Zach Conner of Avon Grove cleared 13 feet even to win the pole vault.

Brady Gehret (Photo by Tim O'Dowd) split 46.1 on Altoona's 3:18.02 4x400. Cheltenham qualified for the Championship of America while winning the
Suburban American 4x400 meter relay in a PA#1 3:13.60.
Cheltenhamp went on to finish 5th in the Championship of America final, running 3:17.25. Abington ran 3:17.69 to win the Philly area 4x400, and West Catholic girls ran 3:48.48 to win the girls Philly area 4x400. West Catholic also finished 3rd in the tri-state 4x100 meter relay, running 47.41. Penn Hills finished 5th in 48.21, as Chester was 6th in 48.76, Swenson was 7th in 48.84.

Lasalle was the top PA finisher in the boys 4x800 meter relay Championship of America, finishing 6th with a new state leading time of 7:47.19. Abington was 7th in 7:48.93, Penn Hills was 9th in 7:50.76, and Henderson was 11th in 7:54.21.
Tom Timmins of Phoenixville finished 7th in the 400 meter hurdles,
winning his heat in 55.02.
Carlton Lavong of Methacton was the top American finisher in the long jump with his 3rd place 24-05.50. James Weiss of Quakertown finished 2nd and Mick Coleman of William Tennent was 3rd in the pole vault,
both clearing 15-1. Jarred Gambrell of Athens finished 3rd in the triple jump with a mark of 49-02.25.

PA had four teams qualify for the 4x800 meter relay Championship of America. Abington had the fastest time for PA in the round, running 7:50.99 to win their heat, Penn Hills ran 7:53.47 to finish 4th in the same heat. Lasalle ran 7:51.39 to finish 4th in their heat, and West Chester Henderson advanced out of the small school heats, running 7:51.24 to finish 2nd in their heat.
The Haverford School had the fastest PA time in the small school heats of the 4x100 meter relay, running 43.53. Strath Haven (43.64) and Upper Moreland (43.65) were 2 and 3 for PA in small schools. Central Bucks South ran 42.60 to finish 8th in the large school 4x100 heats and record the fastest PA time on the day. Altoona ran 42.61 to finish 9th and Conestoga ran 42.78 to have the 3rd fastest PA time on the day.
West Catholic girls ran 47.50 to finish 3rd in the large school final of the 4x100 meter relay. Penn Hills was 8th in 48.36 and Chester was 9th in 48.39.
Germantown Friends ran 10:35.57 to finish 13th in the distance medley.
Tom Kehl of Father Judge finished 3rd in the mile championship with a personal best time of 4:11.07, Vince Perozze of Perkiomen Valley was 9th in 4:13.99, and Tom Mallon was 12th in 4:17.38.
Dustin Wilson of Chestnut Hill Academy ran 8:30.96 to finish 11th in the 3000 meter championship.
Aubree Ray of Middletown finished 10th in the girls discus with a throw of 124-3, Brianna Dugan of Muhlenberg threw 120-9, and Sarah Fairbanks of Elizabethtown Area threw 110-9.
In the boys javelin, Jacob Sunday of North Allegheny finished 2nd with a mark of 209-8, James Budzinski of Holy Ghost Prep was 3rd in 203-10, and Michael Brode of Indian Valley was 5th in 200-5.
Scott Rushton of Episcopal Academy was 12th in the boys shot put with a thow of 52-11, and Jacob Brenza of Trinity threw 50-2.
HIGHLIGHTS:
Mile Run: Father Judge senior Tom Kehl took 3rd in a PA#1 4:11.07. Vincent Perozze, Perkiomen Valley, improved his season best to 4:13.99.
3000 Meter Run: Chestnut Hill's Dustin Wilson took 11th with a 8:30.96.
Distance Medley Relay: Germantown Friends was 13th in 10:35.57.
HSG 4x100 Large Schools: West Catholic, 3rd in 47.50.
4x800 Qualifiers: Abington was the top PA qualifier with the 4th best time in the prelims of 7:50.99 (Abington: Tevin Smith (2:00.8), Charles Ross (1:55.1), Eleazar Cardoso (2:01.0), Kyle Moran (1:54.1)... leading three other PA teams to the Championship of America - Henderson (7:51.24), LaSalle College HS (7:51.39, and Penn Hills (7:53.47). Moran's split was the 6th best on the day, behind only Central Bucks South anchor Tom Mallon's 1:52.5 - which was 2nd best on the morning).
Thursday
Leah Nugent of Abington was the big winner in the 400 meter hurdles championship with her winning time of 59.15. Ann Kelly
of Notre Dame ran 64.03 and Felicia Custis ran 65.76.
Downingtown East had the fastest 4x800 meter time out of PA with a 9:20.81, good enough for 8th in their heat. Unfortunately, it was not enough to make the Championship of America, as 9:17.70
was the last time to make the finals.
Relays: Swenson had the fastest PA time in the 4x100 in the small schools division, running 48.67. Paul Robeson was right behind them with their time of 48.83. West Catholic had the fastest PA time of the day in the
large school division with their time of 47.70, which was 7th best in that division. Penn Hills ran 48.36 to have the 2nd best PA time on the day. Villa Maria Academy (3:53.50) edged out Notre Dame (3:54.74) and Gwynedd Mercy (3:55.67) in the Philly Academic 4x400. Abington had the fastest time for PA in the 4x400 heats, winning Suburban National in 3:53.21. West Catholic had the 4th best PA time winning the Catholic League race in 3:54.84. St Basil's Academy ran 12:15.71 to finish
14th in the distance medley.
Angel Piccirillo of Homer Center won the mile title in a PR of 4:53.41 in only the 9th mile of her career. Kayleigh Perry of ELCO ran 5:01.20 to finish 9th and Kelsey Seymour of Central Cambria ran 5:01.60 to finish 10th.
Sara Sargent of Pennsbury hung in there with two of the best distance runners in the country to finish 3rd in the 3000 meter championship in 9:39.26. Katie Kinkead of Central Bucks East was not far behind in 6th with a time of 9:44.27. Meghan McGovern of North Penn ran 10:07.09 and Liz Simpson of Boyertown ran 10:08.76.
For Day 1 field,
Laura Loht of Indian Valley became the javelin champion with her throw of 148-1, with Allison Updike of Tamaqua finishing 2nd with a mark of 144 feet even, and Meghan Morton of St Pius X was 3rd with a mark of 141-3. Lakeview's Fawn Miller, the defending champ, did not advance to the finals.
Allison Vanek of Wilson Area became the pole vault champ with her clearance of 12-05.50. Laura Terstappen of Phoenixville (4th) and Brooke Hamscher of Whitehall (5th) both cleared 11-09.75.
Anna McCloskey was 7th in the shot put with a mark of 40-05, Amanda Hottenstein was right behind her in 8th with a mark of 40-04. Chloe Smith of Archbishop Prendergast threw 37-09.50.
Jordan Matthews of Abington finished 4th in the long jump with her mark of 18-10.75, Courtney Kedra of Phoenixville was 7th with a mark of 18-01, and Brittany Howell of Cheltenham finished 10th with a mark of 17-06.
Ashely Corum of Carlisle finished 6th in the triple jump in 38-9, Ali Gillen of Central Bucks East jumped 36-01.25, and Alisa Fornwald of Girls High jumped 35-8.
Anne Holland of Pennridge finished tied for 8th in the high jump with a
clearance of 5-06.50.
HIGHLIGHTS:
Mile Run: Sophomore Angel Piccirillo ran only her 9th mile ever, and made her first visit to the Penn Relays a winning on - splitting 75-72-75-71 for a new PR of 4:53.41.
3000 Meter Run: Freshman Sara Sargent used a furious sprint to finish 3rd in the loaded race, going 9:39.26. Central Bucks East's Katie Kinkead was 6th in 9:44.27.
Distance Medley Relay: St. Basil Academy finished 14th in 12:15.71.
Pole Vault: Wilson Area's Allison Vanek needed a bog meet PR of 12-05.50 to win - becoming the 7th straight champion coached by Vertical Assault. Vanek's PR was set last Tuesday in a dual meet at 12-07.
High Jump: Pennridge's Anne Holland finished in a tie for 8th, clearing 5-06.50.
Triple Jump: Carlisle's Ashley Corum was the top PA finisher with a leap of 38-9, good for 7th.
Long Jump: Abington's Jordan Matthews was the top American, finishing 4th with a jump of 18-10.75.
Shot Put: Cardinal O'Hara Anna McCloskey was the top PA thrower, finishing 7th with a toss of 40-05.
Fawn Miller does not advance out of prelims.
400 Hurdles: Abington's Leah Nugent wins the 400 Hurdles in a PR and US#1 59.15.
4x100 Qualifiers: West Catholic ran the fastest PA time, going 47.70. Swenson ran 48.67.

Regan Rodgers of Wellsboro cleared 5-3 to win the high jump, Viriginia LaMacchia and Kelsey Davis of Central Columbia both cleared 11-3 in the pole vault, Lauren Ball of Bloomsburg jumped 18 feet even to win the long jump, Jenna Wargo of Lewisburg threw 140-03 to win the javelin, and Megan Dornish of Elk County Catholic won the shot put and improved her PA#1 mark with a throw of 43-10.75 and she also won the discus with a throw of 117-02.

Ashley Corum of Carlisle won both the long jump (17-09) and the triple jump (38-02.25), and teammate April Schlusser ran 11:34.42 to win the 3200 meter run. Boys teammate Reggie Oberton ran 51.06 to win the 400 meter dash, and cleared 6 feet even to win the high jump. Carlisle won the boys 4x800 meter relay in 8:37.32. JB Lee of James Buchanan won the long jump with a mark of 21-03.50.
