![]() DAY THREE: Allison Updike threw the javelin 50.08m (166-8) on her first throw of the finals Wednesday evening, and that was good for 8th. USATF quote from Updike: "It was overwhelming at first," Updike said. "Everything felt wrong in the qualifying, but tonight I had a smooth first throw and that got me my place. You just have to concentrate on yourself and believe you can do your best when you throw at meets like this."
DAY TWO: Rising Tamaqua senior Allison Updike, who co-holds the PA all-time record in the javelin, advanced to the finals of the IAAF World Juniors on her final throw of the prelims - going 160-6.25. The final is on Wednesday afternoon.

Also on Day Two, Methacton grad Carlton Lavong long-jumped 23-5 and did not advance to the finals.

For the YM, it was Mechanicsburg grad Brittany George throwing 140-03, to hold off Indian Valley grad Laura Loht, who threw 139-00. Rising Cumberland Valley sophomore Alejandra Willequer took third with her 131-00. In the YW shot put, Fleetwood grad Amanda Hottenstein put the lock on first place with a toss of 40-04.25.

On Sunday, South Park rising junior Billy Stanley, won the IB javelin with a throw of of 193-11. Rising Sewickley Academy junior Caitlin Bungo was 6th in the YW 1500 finals in her second PR of the meet, going 4:46.27.
On Saturday, Elyse WIlkinson, Penn Charter, took 2nd in the YW 800 in 2:13.80. And rising senior Rich D'Ambrosia of Malvern Prep was 9th in the YM long jump, clearing 22-5 into the pit. He did not advance in the 110 hurdles.
On Friday, Sewickley Academy rising junior Caitlin Bungo qualified for the finals in the YW 1500, running a PR of 4:48.11, the 5th best time. Elyse Wilkinson did not advance to the semis in the 400, running 59.87. Richland rising junior Paige Lumley was 14th in the IG triple jump with her 35-10 effort. Rising Norristown senior Tyler Smith went 10.99 in the first round of the 100, but did not advance.
On Tuesday, Blackhawk's Angelica Peck took 6th in the YW 2000 meter steeplechase in 7:40.11.

![]() On Day Seven, Strath Haven rising juniors Chris Williams and Andrew Crawford hit their PR's. William's tied his 15-0 outdoor PR and took the win in the IB pole vault. Crawford threw his best-ever in the javelin, going 150-1, good for 5th place in IB.
On Day Six, Wallace Spencer captured 3rd in the YM 110 hurdles, going 13.85. It is the 2nd time this summer that the rising senior at Malvern Prep has dipped under 14 seconds. In the javelin, rising Selinsgrove senior Tyler Kerstetter PRed in taking 5th in the YM event - throwing 162-11. PA fared well in the pole vault. Northampton rising senior Eric Hunter PRed and was in a 3-way tie for 6th in YM, clearing 14-6. Three PA girls cleared over 11 feet in the YW event. Plymouth Whitemarsh rising senior Haley Gorenflo was 6th, and a PR at 11-6. Joining her at that height was Oxford grad Laure Beimfohr, who was 7th. It tied her PR. And district 2 Riverside rising senior Vanessa Munley was 10th when she cleared 11. On the track, Engineering & Science rising senior Cierra White was 12th in the YW 200, going 24.59.
On Day Five, 2009 Engineering & Science grad Ramaan Ansley advanced to the finals of the YM 100, getting the 2nd fastest qualifier of 10.58.
On Day Four, Wallace Spencer, Malvern Prep, (Photo by Ryan Kelly, MileStat.com) advanced in another event, moving on to the finals of the YM 110 Hurdles with the 4th fastest qualifier of 14.36. Spencer missed advancing in the 200 with his 22.47. Rising Penn Wood junior Eric Futch went 14.76, but did not advance. Cierra White, a rising senior at Engineering & Science, advanced to the YW semis in the 200, going 25.10. In the YW 100 hurdles, Plymouth Whitemarsh rising senior Emerald Walden ran 15.20, but did not advance.

At the end of day one, Kansas State's Ryann Krais (Methacton 2008), is in 3rd place in the heptathlon. Krais has 3352 points after a 13.85 in the 100 hurdles, 5-09.75 in the high jump, 34-09.75 in the shot put, and 25.49 in the 200. The points are 90 better than her USATF Champs. |
