Simply, she is getting better. So much so, she\'s already matching and surpassing the marks set by one of the standards for her events in Pennsylvania - Sheena Gordon, a graduate of her own school. The she is Nicole Smith. The events are the High, Long and Triple Jumps... along with the 100 High Hurdles. On Saturday, she was spectacular, setting two PRs for two events and eclipsing an outdoor PR. The two PRs were big. a 40-00.50 Triple Jump, which is still two-feet shy of Gordon\'s mark; a 19-06 Long Jump, which is a PR and nearly a foot better than Gordon\'s best; plus a 5-09 High Jump, an outdoor PR (Smith jumped 5-10.50 indoors), and matches Gordon\'s best. And for good measure, Smith ran 15.0 to take the 100 Hurdles.
Other great performances were by Breehana Jacobs of Laurel Highlands in the 100 (11.9 prelims) and the 200 (24.6); Jordan Veney of Baldwin, winning the Shot Put with a strong throw of 42-03.50 and the Discus with her toss of 139-08; and Caitlin Hewitt of Latrobe, clearing 12-05 to win the Pole Vault.
