6/26-Shane Riegel and Rachael Angstadt win 2nd annual Berks Multis at Wyomissing

Shane Riegel won the second annual Berks Multi-Event Championships Decathlon with an impressive score of 5579 pts. The soon-to-be senior from Kutztown High School finished Day 1 with a 52.80 in the 400 meters, and rode that momentum to a big Day 2, during which he ran a 16.1 in the 110 hurdles, vaulted 13'6", and sealed his victory with a 4:50.9 in the 1500 meters. Riegel's closest competitor was Eric Miller, who will be a senior at Wyomissing Area High School this year. Miller's 4666 points were highlighted by a long jump of 19'1.5", a 54.5 in the 400 meters, and a 4:46.3 in the 1500 meters. Exeter High School junior Josh Waltrich was the 3rd place finisher.

Brandywine Heights High School graduate Rachael Angstadt won the Berks Multi-Event Championships Heptathlon on the final event (the 800 meters) with a score of 3197 points. Angstadt's win was highlighted by a 16.7 in the 100 hurdles, a long jump of 15'7.5", and an meet clinching 2:34.8 in the 800 meters. Kelly McElroy, who was 4th at the PIAA Championships in the 800 meters, ran a 2:23.2 in the 800, and also won the 200 meters to claim second place in the overall standings. Wyomissing's Claire Kase long jumped 16'1" en route to a third place finish.
