Can Miller make it three? Will his team join him on the podium? Ahh... let the races begin!

Editor's note: The preview author, Aaron Rich, currently coaches at Boiling Springs High School in Cumberland County. A teacher in an autistic classroom, he will be getting married Oct 1 (yes, instead of going to a meet). Just like you, he has one bias when it comes to this sport – few high school athletes work as hard or reap the personal satisfaction that cross country can bring. – Don Rich, PennTrackXC.com publisher, and proud father.

I am back once again with the state previews for cross country. This year should be a very exciting one with quite a few returning stars who will be looking to make their mark. I do these previews for fun, and they are not meant to be exact predictions of how States could turn out this year. But they are a serious look at the teams and individuals with the best chance of placing high in Hershey. Hopefully what I write here will spark conversation and excitement over how the standings will look once the last runner at States has crossed the line. I am sure some of you will prove me right, and others, wrong.

As always, the focus is on the top teams and the top individuals in the state. However, it's the athletes who run the races to determine the best, and everyone begins the race on the same starting line. So as you begin your seasons and run your first races, remember the goals you have set for yourself and believe that they are within your grasp. I would say good luck, but we all know it is hard work we credit for our success, not luck. So run hard, enjoy your season, and strive for success. See you out on the course.

If Brad Miller can keep his shoes on, Manheim Township may start the scoring with three points.

Scranton Prep is the class of AA boys this year.

Allentown Central Catholic could move the whole way to first (again), with a strong group of seniors.
But this race is way too close to call.

Now a sophomore, Rachel Erny will be looking to repeat.
