Jack Doherty led Scranton Prep last year with a 25th place finish.
He's got plenty of company back this season. 
For the first time in a long time, there will be no Christiansen from Greenville in a AA race. Jed graduated, and Jake and family moved to new Hampshire, where they made some noise this summer on the roads. But that just gives more opportunity for a talented set of rising juniors and seniors who ran very well in both XC and track, thank you. It's a toss-up.
But in the team race, Scranton Prep will be back on top again, only losing one scorer from their 2004 title team. With 5 returners from last year's state championship team, including senior Jack Doherty, who was 25th. Youngsville also has 5 returners from their 3rd place squad, including senior Kyle Jones, who was 4th in 2004. Wyomissing, 2nd last year, looks strong with 4 returning athletes. Wyomissing will be led by sophomore Mike Stone, who was 35th. Tamaqua could challenge for a top-5 finish with 4 returners including junior Isaac Dunkelberger, who was 8th last year. York Suburban is another team who could reach the top-5. They return 5 finishers from their 6th place team. Greensburg, 4th last year, and Greenville, 5th last year, look like they may fall out of the top-5 in 2005. Greensburg loses its top 4 finishers from last year, and Greenville loses Jake Christiansen, who moved to New Hampshire this summer.
Train together, race together works for Prep. 
In the individual race, six runners return from the top-10 last year. Among those are the top underclassman from last year, Kyle Jones, now a senior from Youngsville, who placed 4th. The next three were all in the top-8 in XC last year and they all doubled in the 1600 and 3200 at outdoor states. They are junior Mark Bucklaw from Lakeland, senior Jake Walker from Ellwood City, and junior Isaac Dunkelberger from Tamaqua. Bucklaw was 5th in XC, then ran a 4:33.12 1600 and 9:31.89 3200 in outdoor. Walker was 6th in XC, then ran a 4:23.73 1600 and 9:15.63 3200, for 2nd at outdoor. Dunkelberger was 8th in XC, then ran a 4:29.11 1600 and 9:36.61 3200 in outdoor. Rounding out last year's top-10 were Lucas Zarzeczny, 9th, now a junior from Avonworth, and Michael Duffee, 10th, now a senior from Neshannock. Another notable runner is Lane King, a senior from Fairview, who was 4th in the outdoor 1600 with a time of 4:24.44. King was 29th, but could be the top contender for the win along with Walker, Jones, Bucklaw and Dunkelberger.
