Jake Walker has not only wiped the one blemish off his season, he has complete erased it. After losing the Slippery Rock Invitational because of illness, he came back a week ago to take the Tri-States, and then followed it up with the District 7 title, also at Cooper\'s Lake, going 15:48. Better yet, his Ellwood City team will be going to States as District 7 champs, beating Quaker Valley by 23 points.
In AAA, North Allegheny continued their season-long win streak, once again topping Pittsburgh Central Catholic, this time by 43 points behind the 2nd place finish of Max Brown in 16:30. Central Catholic\'s Scott Van Kooten won in 16:10.
In AAA Girls, Latrobe firmly established themselves as one of the favorites for a state title. The race also produced the three fastest times of the day. Frosh Natalie Bower led her Latrobe team to the title, running 18:51 for the win, with Penn-Trafford junior Diana Filtz 2nd in 19:05. and North Allegheny senior Kelly O\'Brien 3rd in 19:07.
Sophomore Kacey Gibson of Neshannock beat the defending state champ Rachel Erny of Brentwood by 16 seconds, going 19:12. Riverwiew won the team title by 87 to 95 over Greensburg Central Catholic behind the 3rd place finish of Allison Garda in 19:47.
