This was close. In the AA Girls race at the 10/29 PIAA District 10 Championships, Union City was the only state-qualifying team with two runners, no, make that any runners in the top seven, but finished 3rd behind the closer packs of Slippery Rock and Villia Maria. Rock had 124, with Villa Maria ten points more, and Union City just a point above that. Harbor Creek\'s Lauren Zarger, a freshman, won the race in the best time of the day, 19:31. In AA Boys, North East had a more comfortable win behind the 7th and 8th place finishes of Ora Merkel and Garrett Gray. Also going to States will be West Middlesex and Maplewood. General McLane obliterate the AAA Girls field with 18 points, taking five of the top seven spots behind Lindsay Petri\'s 19:39. And in AAA Boys, it was Meadville with 37 points behind a 2 place by Zac Ross in 17:21. McDowell\'s Kevin Gorny won in 17:11.
