There doesn\'t seem to be a shortage of good throws in the early going of the boy\'s shot put. One of the top in the state this season is Chestnut Hill Academy\'s Wayne Crawford. At theHill School Invitational on 12/14 , Crawford went out 54-06.50, over three feet better than 2nd place. Holy Name (Reading) sprinter Chris Muvdi took the 55 dash in 6.2 seconds. Mercersburg Academy\'s Whitney Matthey won the 200 and 400, while Springfield Montco\'s Matlack Gillen took the 800 and 1600.

The girls are getting some incredible December performances into the books. At the DVGTCA meet on 12/16 at Ursinus College, Ryann Krais is starting her sophomore campaign for Methacton with a string of great runs in the 55 Hurdles, winning this week in 8.0. She took 2nd in the Long Jump with a leap of 17-06.50. Hallahan senior Shanae Thomas was 1st a quarter of an inch over 18 feet. Five teams broke 10 minutes in the 4x800, led by Engineering & Science in 9:41.6, with West Chester Henderson and Pennridge giving a close chase in 9:44.5 and 9:46.8, respectively. West Catholic motored to a 5:05.5 4x400 win. Conestoga junior Emily Moles tied a meet record of 5-04 in winning the High Jump. And Penncrest soph Karen Shump put the shot 41-09 to win again.

Glen Mills thrower Robert Williams put the shot 53-06.25 to win at the 12/17 TFCAGP Division 1 meet at Ursinus College. Williams Tennent\'s Jay Pittenger cleared 6-04 to take the High Jump, while North Penn\'s Brandon Turner leapt 44-04.75 in the Triple Jump.

Four meet records were broken at the 12/17 TFCAGP Division 2 meet at Ursinus College. Three days after throwing 54-06.50 at Hill, Wayne Crawford was back at it, this time going 55-03, just over a half a foot short of his outdoor PR. Wissahickon went 10:45.4 to win the DMR. Penncrest\'s Tim Ohm cleared 13-06 in the Pole Vault. And Engineering & Science distance runner Trevon Rainford ran 9:10.7 for 3000m.

Harrisburg\'s Delon Isom went 7.5 in the 55 Hurdles, but it was in the Trials. He was 2nd to Bible Baptist\'s Brandon Tress in the finals at Dickinson College HS Invitational #1 on 12/17 in Carlisle. Teammate Matt Davis won the Long Jump, going 21-00.75, while Red Land\'s Aaron Kauffman went 2:00.7 to take the 800. State College\'s Katherine Ward won the 1600 in 5:19.6. Reading sprinter Jasmin Hunt took the 55 Hurdles in 9.1 seconds, but was clocked with an 8.5 in the Trials. She took 3rd in the 55m Dash with a 7.4.

Simon Gratz got the season off to a fast, winning start at the Bishop Loughlin Games on 12/17-18 at the New York Armory. In the team competition, Gratz was 2nd to Maryland power DeMatha by four points, 17-21. Kenneth Talley won the 300 meter dash in 34.51, with Kevin Talley in 4th at 35.90. And their 4x800 was victorious as well, going 8:09.65 (Khaliff Featherstone 2:00, Devin Summerville 2:02, Trevor Mackins 2:02, Darryl Davis 2:02), while the Gratz 4x400 was 5th in 3:28.59 ((Trevor Mackins 51.7, Kevin Talley 54.7, Gourdie Corbin 52.4, Khaliff Featherstone 49.9). Archbishop Carroll junior Dwayne Washington was 3rd in the Triple Jump, leaping 45-00.50. Gratz\'s Devin Summerville took 4th in the 1000m, timed in 2:37.33. For the girls, Chester\'s Shaniel Chambers took 4th in the 600m in 1:37.05.

McCaskey\'s Anthony Westbrook has given up his cleats for spikes and has launched his indoor season with two wins, taking the Long Jump (21-03.75) and the Triple Jump (44-00.00) at the 12/17 Franklin & Marshall HS Invitational #1in Lancaster. Central York\'s Steph Evans won the 55 dash in 7.33 seconds. And Hershey\'s Jess Tack won the Shot Put with a throw of 37-06.00. And Downingtown West took both 4x400, the girls\' in 4:14.95 and the boys\' in 3:41.58.

We hope to get school affiliations for the Dickinson College results.
