Craig Miller will race the 3000 at Penn State 2/18... and then...

Manheim Township senior Craig Miller, now fully recovered from a collapsed lung that cut short his cross country season eight days before the NE FootLocker regional, will race the 3000 on Sat Feb 18 at Penn State University. Miller has been running and swimmiing and is expected to be in race shape to attempt to qualify for the PTFCA state meet 3000 set for a week later at the same facility.

According to Manheim Township head coach Mark Linn, Miller began running in mid-December, but had temperature restrictions on his outdoor training. He had been running on a treadmill, and with the coldness of the month at the end of the year, added swimming to his training regimen. In mid-January, he was cleared for running outside, and to resume full intensity training.

Miller\'s distance coach, Terry Lee, said Miller had also begun some harder workouts, including a 2000m warmup with three 1000m repeats February 2nd. Other workouts are planned prior to the 18th to help improve speed for the 3000, but according to Linn, \"his conditioning never left, and the swimming has certainly helped.\"

Lee says Miller is now running about 60 miles a week, plus training and swimming with the team, \"putting in his best-ever times in the pool.\"

Then, says Linn, \"it\'s back to the mile in the spring.\"
