The bright Florida sun was not the only thing shining at the NCAA Division II cross country race, senior harrier Ryan Blood (Summerdale, Pa./East Pennsboro) polished off his career with a fourth place finish, an All-American honor and shattered the LHU record. With the rest of the team shortly behind him, the Bald Eagles soared to an 11th place finish.

Central Columbia junior Osayi Osunde took over the top spot in the state AND THE COUNTRY in the Javelin with a great 206-04 effort. He was also the Shop Put champ by nearly seven feet (52\' 7\"). Sam Eck, Jersey Shore, and Mike Jeffreys, Danville, went 199-04 and 190-07, respectively. Lewisburg improved on their Penn Relays time a little, posted a 7:55.35 that remains PA #2. Obviously they were anchored by Chris Spooner, who took it upon himself to run a US#7 1:52.35 Open 800. Both times were meet records. Ruby Radocaj launched here second 151+ Javelin with a 151-06 meet record.
Other Girls Highlights: Melissa Miller of Athens sets meet records in her three victories (100m 12.39, 200m 25.25, 400m 58.28); Lewisburg\'s 4x800 sets a meet record of 9:51.77; North Penn\'s Tricia Learn takes the mile (5:27.13) and 3200 meters (11:42.91); Pole Vault Meet Record set by Brittany Senior of Dubois with clearance of 10\' 0\"
Other Boys Highlights: 800 runner-up Ben McConnell of Danville runs 1:55.95, in addition to anchoring Danville\'s record-setting 4x400 meter relay in 3:24.30. Bloomsburg\'s Dane Grandezio takes both the 100 meter (11.19) and 200 meter titles (22.60) in leading his team to the team title. Samuel Fairchild of Towanda sets a meet record of his own in the pole vault with a clearance of 14\' 6\".
Altoona SOPHOMORE Rachel Gehret (in Lock Haven University photo) won the 200 in 25.71, the High Jump at 5-06, the Long Jump with a 18.3.75 leap, and anchored her team to a win in the 4x400 with a 56-point split. Oh, and she has already Triple-Jumped 36-06. And Penn Relays champs Ruby Radocaj and Chris Spooner were there, too.
