The United Age Group Track Coaches Association meet July 11-13 at Northeast HS in Philadelphia, saw representation from 65 U.S. clubs and four other countries. The UAGTCA Meet wrap-up by Association founder and meet director, Ron Jackson At the IAAF World Junior Championships in Poland, On day Five, Ryann Krais finished with the #5 all-time US heptathlon with 5457 points following an 18-9.75 long jump (765 points), 104-07 javelin (512 points), and 2:19.15 800 (835 points). And Joe Berry, (Hatboro-Horsham 2007) cleared 16-8.75 to finish in a tie for 7th. He came in at 16-4.75, clearing on his first attempt; cleared his best height on the 2nd attempt, and then missed three at 17-00.75. On Day Four, Ryann Krais started with a 13.73 100 hurdles, and a 5-7.75 high jump, putting her 17 points ahead of the pace she set in June at Great Southwest when she was just shy of the USR in the heptathlon. She finished her first day in 6th place following a PR in the shot put of 34-7.75 for 566 points, which put her 34 points ahead of pace; but then fell 34 points off record pace with a 25.04 200 in the first heat for 883 points. The fastest four women on the day were in the final heat. On Day Three, Tennessee rising sophomore and USATF Juniors champ Joe Berry (Hatboro-Horsham 2007) advanced to the finals of the pole vault, clearing 16-8.75. Fellow Juniors champ Karlee McQuillen, a rising sophomore at Penn State (Westmont Hilltop 2007), was 14th in the qualifying round on Day One, throwing 163-03.50. Whiting wins NACAC shot-Radocaj and Leach take 2nd's | PA captures several 1st's at Russell Blunt Jul 21, 2008

At the NACAC Under-23 Championships in Mexico, Central Dauphin grad Ryan Whiting (Photo by Victor Sailor, PhotoRun.net) (Arizona State), won the shot put with a throw of 63-10.25. Williamsport alum Ruby Radocaj (Minnesota), took 2nd in the javelin with a throw of 166-04.75, and West Catholic grad Nicole Leach was 2nd in the 400 hurdles in 57.05. She also ran on the runner-up 4x400 relay. At the Russell Blunt Invitational at Duke University in North Carolina, Imhotep grad Herman Kirkland leapt 23-4 to win the YM long jump. Methacton's Carlton Lavong was 1st in the IB long jump at 23-2.75. He also captured the triple jump with a leap of 45-00.25. Father Judge grads and twins Jermaine and Jerome Lowery were 1st and 3rd in the 400 hurdles, going 53.16 and 54.37, respectively. Rising juniors Saudiah Lawrence (Penn Charter) and Shanae Bailey (Swenson), performed well. Lawrence was 1st in the IG long jump at 18-1, and 2nd in the triple jump at 37-08.50. Bailey ran the fastest IG 200 of the meet, going 24.59 in the prelims, before being shut down for a minor injury.
