DISTRICT 1 CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIP

INFORMATION SHEET

DATE: Friday, October 29, 2021

TIME: 1st Race 9:30 a.m.

PLACE: LEHIGH UNIVERSITY - 5,000 meter course

PARKING INFORMATION: Parking will be available in the lots indicated below.

DO NOT PARK IN ANY OTHER AREAS.

Stabler Arena Parking lot is located behind Stabler Arena. This lot is to be used by all spectators and all school buses, vans, cars, or vehicles transporting athletes.

THE ROAD LEADING TO THE COURSE START AND FINISH LINE (COLLEGE AVE.)WILL BE CLOSED TO PARKING (or dropping athletes off)OF ANY NATURE. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO PASS THIS INFORMATION ON TO SPECTATORS AND BUS DRIVERS AND TO ABIDE BY IT YOURSELF.

FACILITIES: Teams should arrive dressed to compete. There will be restroom facilities at the Football Stadium but no facilities for changing or cover for warm up. Stabler Arena and Rauch Field House will not be in use. there will be no entry into the football stadium until the awards ceremony at the end of the meet.

REVIEW OF COURSE: The following dates in October are dates that you can go over the course--October 25, 26, 27, 2021. PLEASE- NO REVIEW ON OTHER DAYS. Course review on the day of the race will be permitted until the first race begins. NO ONE SHOULD BE REVIEWING THE COURSE AFTER THE FIRST RACE BEGINS. When you review the course you are requested to park only in the parking lots available. Do not drive or park on the course or the university grass fields. ON THE REVIEW DAYS, PLEASE RESPECT LEHIGH UNIVERSITY TEAMS THAT ARE PRACTICING/COMPETING WHILE YOU ARE REVIEWING THE COURSE.

TEAM AND INDIVIDUAL PACKETS: Team and individual packets may be picked up on the day of the meet at the Officials area/trailer. These packets contain 1 (one) bib for each of your VARSITY runners make sure the correct bib is worn by the correct athlete. They are pinned to the jersey of each runner (BRING YOUR OWN SAFETY PINS). At the end of the meet the bibs are NOT returned BUT YOU NEED TO FILL OUT PAPERWORK FOR ALL TEAMS/ATHLTES GOING ON TO THE STATE MEET as soon as possible after the race.

TYPE OF COURSE: 5,000 meters grass with some up hills and down hills. Spikes or flats may be worn. PLEASE ASK FAMILIES TO LEAVE THEIR DOG AT HOME NO FRISBEES, SOCCER BALLS, FOOTBALLS ETC. THROWN ON/NEAR THE COURSE

AGAIN THIS YEAR (2021): THE PIAA STRONGLY RECOMMENDS THAT YOU VIEW THE CROSS COUNTRY RULES INTERPRETATION PRESENTATION ONLINE AND ANSWER THE QUESTIONS AT THE CONCLUSION. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO MAKE SURE YOUR TEAM WILL BE IN COMPLIANCE WITH CURRENT RULES. Go to the PIAA website, cross country page, click on 2021 rules presentation. NEW THIS YEAR: 1A awards for both boys & girls will be after the Boys 1A race aprox 11:45

2A awards for both boys & girls will be after the Boys 2A race aprox 12:15

3A awards for both boys & girls will after the unseeded races aprox. 1:30

Please have your teams and athletes in the stadium on time 

 

AAA SCHOOLS - You may list 7 VARSITY names on your Milesplit entry. To vie for the team

championship in the seeded race, you must have at least five but no more

than seven individuals finish the race.If you are not trying for a team championship, you still may run up to

and including seven individuals in the seeded race.

AA & A SCHOOLS - You may list 7 VARSITY names on your Milesplit entry. To vie for the

team championship in the seeded race, you must run at least five but no more

than seven individuals. There will be an AA Boys varsity race and an AA

Girls varsity race plus a boys and girls varsity A race.

All runners, varsity or unseeded, must be entered through milesplit this year to be able to run at Lehigh -

in the seeded races only 7 runners will run, the

rest may run in the Unseeded Race  - see info above on changes to time and place of unseeded run - any runners in the
unseeded race are

paid for by their school or team on race day (VARSITY RUNNERS ARE PAID FOR BY

District 1).
Whoever runs

in the varsity race has a number so no "substitutions" need to be made on race day. 

Unseeded Race:  Cost for unseeded is $2.50 per athlete.  This is an entry fee, not a participation fee. 
If you enter your athletes, you must pay for them.  The check is made out to CCRS and sent to "CCRS, 706 Dean Court, West Chester, PA 19382"Payment can be mailed or paid at the event -- but no "bibs" will be provided to those have not paid (no bib, no race)
All athletes in the unseeded race must be in "school uniforms" -- they do not need to match exactly but they do need to be the school uniform (some with school logo, some with mascot logo is ok)

METHOD OF STARTING:Team position will be drawn in random manner

prior to the meet. Teams will report to the starting line no later

than
15 minutes prior to the scheduled race

time.There are no "run outs"

after teams are called to the line by the starter.
Starting will be by the Block method on the

start line for all races.Starting line

position will be available in your team packet for all races.

 

ORDER OF RACES:

 9:30 a.m. - GIRLS A (7 max.)

10:00 a.m. - GIRLS AA (7 max.)

10:30 a.m. - GIRLS AAA(7 max.)

11:00 a.m. - BOYS A (7 max.)boys and girls awards 11:45

11:30 a.m. - BOYS AA (7 max.) boys and girls awards 12:15

12:00 p.m. - BOYS AAA (7 max.) boys and girls awards at 1:30

THIS IS NOT AN EXACT TIME SCHEDULE, EXCEPT

FOR THE FIRST RACE.SUBSEQUENT RACES

WILL NOT START BEFORE THE LISTED TIME.PLEASE BE PREPARED.

 

AWARDS:A team trophy for each classification.Also, 1st and 2nd place team medals (8 medals) ; and medals to the top

ATHLETES (10-1A, 10-2A, 25-3A) for each classification.

 

QUALIFIERS

FOR STATES:
AAA schools - top 6 teams and top 30 non-team finishers.

AA schools - boys top team and top 5 non-team

finishers / Girls top
2 team and top 10

non-team individuals

NO ROOMS will be arranged through me - covid etc. concerns - each school needs to

make their own provisions based on their own feeling about how teams should /should not be housed

THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH BATHROOMS BEING TRASHED AT THE 2016

CHAMPIONSHIPS - PLEASE MAKE YOUR TEAMS ARE AWARE THAT IF THAT HAPPENS AGAIN WE

MAY NOT COMING BACK TO LEHIGH UNIV. IN THE FUTURE - AS COACHES, PLEASE MONITOR
