Defending AAA State Pole Vault champion Eric Sparks of Hickory, cleared 15-00 to take 3rd in the Pole Vault competition.
Lindsey Regan, the Easton junior, upped her state-leading pole vault height to 12-06 at the annual Pole Vault Summit held in Las Vegas, Nevada. Eric Sparks, Hickory, cleared 15-02 to lead the PA boys. Amber Gaffey of Susquehanna Community, cleared 10-06, and Julia Green, Emmaus was over at 10-02. Chartiers Houston\'s Buddy Rose set a PR at 13-10. Pennridge\'s Scott Sherwood cleared 13-08, while State College\'s Pat Campolongo was good over 13-02.
It was the Nicole Smith-Erin Hannon show at the first Slippery Rock HS Inv on January 14th, both with ranked US performances.
Breehana Jacobs of Uniontown was a triple winner, taking the Long Jump with a US#4 18-05.50 leap; the 60 dash at 7.88, and a 26.62 200. Defending outdoor state Pole Vault champ Eric Sparks, now a senior, got off to a great start, cleaing 15-00, placing him in a three-way tie for US#3. Caitlin Hewitt, Greater Latrobe, cleared 10-06 to win the girls\' Pole Vault. And West Allegheny\'s Cardel Johnson took three events, the 60m in 7.28, the 200 in 23.28, and the 400 in 53.60.
Senior Jed Christiansen had a great day, winning the 3200 in a meet record, and helped his 4x800 to a meet record, as well.
